Sammy Ndjock’s incredible own goal for Bournemouth
The worst own goal ever?!
Poor Sammy Ndjock. The Minnesota United goalkeeper looks set to go viral on Thursday once Europe wakes up to one of the worst howlers ever. Bournemouth won their pre-season friendly with Minnesota United 4-0
and encouragingly for Eddie Howe’s side Callum Wilson scored twice. Two minutes after the opening goal, there was disaster for Ndjock and Minnesota.
“Disaster for Ndjock”
This is how the official Minnesota United site described the goal:
“Disaster for Ndjock two minutes later as the game began to settle
down. Ndjock came off his line and grabbed a ball that was well away
from any attacker, then motioned for his teammates to push up the pitch.
Standing right of the net, Ndjock began to throw the ball, but changed
his mind mid-throw. The result was calamitous. The ball slipped out of
Ndjock’s hand and into the back of the net, giving Bournemouth an early
2-0 lead.” On Twitter, their reaction was also fairly laid back:
